Prince was found dead inside his Paisley Park studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota, on Thursday, April 21, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson confirms to Us Weekly. The iconic, beloved musician was 57.
According to Olson, sheriff’s deputies responded to a medical call at about 9:43 a.m. When deputies and medical personnel arrived, they found an unresponsive adult male in the elevator. Responders provided CPR but were unable to revive the seven-time Grammy winner.
The legendary singer-songwriter was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m.
According to the statement, the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Prince’s death.

Just one day later, his private plane made an emergency landing and Prince was hospitalized in Illinois for what his rep described at the time as flu-like symptoms.
